I always feel that I’m part of your stories. The scents of food, tender emotions toward your family, and your descriptions place my imagination at the dinner table. Love the rats!
Shell, you provide us readers with instant recall to our Thanksgiving. I love that you are willing to admit to untold hundreds and, soon, thousands of readers how your Thanksgiving was soaked in fun and parental alcohol. We all have stories of difficult times at the dinner table. Your admission allows us all to remember and, maybe, exorcise our demons. Thank you. By the way, my mouth was actually watering as you described the food at your daughter's in-laws table. I became like your 2-year-old grandchild: I am hungry.
I can relate to the fussy eater bit. I was terrible as a child but changed as I grew into adulthood ... Although, some may say I became fussy again when I became vegetarian in my early 30's and, more recently when diagnosed coeliac and needing to be gluten free. I like your mother's sense of humour "rats for dinner".

That is your writing gift, Shell.
Really thinking about how I can use this passion for good.
I love when people find themselves in my stories.
“Now me food?!” haha 😂
What a funny story and so sweet that you are making memories with your family.
