Loved this story. I am not religious person but like to think that I am spiritual. Ritual do have a big place in our lives.

How tender for the two of you, I love this story, It tells a lot about you and your mom. My grandfather married Louise. They were 85 and 86. I don't remember what denomination she was, but she was so sweet and kind. Before they married, they went to church and Sunday School. When they weren't able to go, people from church came to their home and they talked about all sorts of thing. My grandfather loved the Bible. He had read it 3 times. Louise had passed away a few years before my grandfather. He continued to read the Bible. A few days before he died, an attendant came into his room. She saw the Bible next to his bed. She offered to read some to him. He said, "No thanks. I already know it all." I was there and told the attendant, "He's telling the truth." He was reading about Job, not the part when Job lost everything, but after that when he blessed him again. (Both my grandfather and Louise had been widowed for 7 years before my Grandfather and Louise married.) The only worried about was my grandma, Blanche. He didn't want her to be sad because he had married Louise. I told him that when I get to heaven, I would talk to grandma. It will be okay.

I remember hopping into a neighbors car to go to Wednesday evening Youth Group way before either of my parents started attending church. They never told us kids no we couldn't go.

Many of the parents I knew back then weren’t as involved as parents seem to be today. I mean no one was “following” their kids on the cell phone app—that’s for sure.

An incredible moving story, told beautifully. He calls each child in their own way and His time, as a loving Father, and waits for the choice. What a sweet memory, thank you for sharing it with us.
